Rural sawmill is looking for a Sawmill Operator to join our team and there is also potential work for those with wood treatment experience. You will play a crucial role in our production process, ensuring efficient operations and maintaining high-quality standards.

Responsibilities:

• Operate and monitor machinery and equipment in the Timber Mill • Sorting, stacking, grading and wrapping timber • Ensure safety protocols and procedures are followed at all times • Maintain production efficiency and quality standards • Perform routine general maintenance tasks on machinery • Collaborate with team members to achieve production goals

Requirements:

• Preferred Experience in operating heavy machinery in a sawmill but not necessary. • F endorsement and OSH certificate would be great but not necessary • Knowledge of safety regulations and practices • Ability to work effectively in a team environment • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes • Reliable transport with Full licence to commute to work

Job Requirements

-Must be able to reliably and regularly get to/from mill as there is no public transport available. If driving, must be on a full licence to be able to legally drive at 5am or 2am. Is fit enough to cope with a physically demanding job. - Understands basic level maths including working with fractions and percentages - Is practically minded with a mechanical aptitude to operate heavy equipment and identify problems as they arise - Is organised and able to work under pressure - Confident reading, writing, and communicating verbally including listening, and following instructions and written procedures - To support our safety goals all candidates must meet the requirements of our physical examination and a pre-employment drug and alcohol assessment. Carter Holt Harvey runs a random and post-incident drug testing programme that all team members must participate in and pass.

Days of work
Rosters are Monday to Thursday, 10-hour shifts. 5am - 3:30pm or 3:30pm - 2am (40 hours per week)
