Kairahi- Community Support Worker

Do you have a passion for working with rangatahi Maori? Are you committed to making a real difference in the lives of young Maori men? A Maori social services provider is looking for a Community Support Worker to mentor and support our rangatahi, helping them navigate life’s challenges and reach their full potential.
As a Community Support Worker, you will be working hands-on with young Maori men, providing guidance, advocacy, and mentorship. You’ll be supporting them in areas such as education, employment, personal development, and cultural identity. This role is about building trusting relationships, fostering resilience, and empowering rangatahi to make positive life choices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide mentorship and one-on-one support to young Maori men
- Develop and facilitate youth-focused programmes and initiatives
- Advocate for rangatahi in areas like education, employment, and wellbeing
- Work alongside whanau, schools, and community organisations to provide wraparound support
- Encourage cultural reconnection and positive identity development
- Support rangatahi in building life skills, confidence, and resilience

Job Requirements
- Passionate and committed to making a real difference in the lives of young Maori men
- Strong connection to Te Ao Maori and understanding of tikanga and te reo Maori
- Culturally aware and committed to kaupapa Maori
- Having experience working with youth and families at risk is an advantage
- The ability to engage and build trust with young people from diverse backgrounds
- A genuine passion for making a difference in the lives of rangatahi
- A full NZ driver’s licence and the ability to pass a police check
