About this job

General • Serve as the primary point of contact on HSE issues at the site for regulatory authorities and site team • Implement and maintain safe and GMP compliant working practices for the whole site • Provide advice and guidance on HSE related matters to site leadership as applicable in an effective and collaborative manner • Support the site with the acquisition of safety equipment and PPE • Ensure site readiness for any relevant internal or external audit and conduct periodic local audits to ensure compliance • Outsource Health and Safety expertise as needed (eg: equipment and plant, electrical and other energy control, ergonomics, process systems safety, work at heights, confined spaces, hot works, fire and first aid) • Liaise with the PMO team for H&S project management support and co-ordination. • Ensure robust investigation and management of work-related injury and ill health, including corrective actions and return to work • Actively participate in change management to ensure proposed changes are compliant with H&S regulations • Remain up to date with local regulatory requirements, trends, and risk initiatives Systems and Tools • Support day to day management and administration of the Health and Safety Management System (eg; EcoPortal, Chemwatch etc) • Develop, implement maintain H&S documentation, systems, processes and tools as required • Maintain effective and efficient H&S & Security Management Systems and risk registers (e.g. Contractor and Visitor Safety, Chemical Safety, Industrial Hygiene, etc) • Develop, implement and maintain site systems verify compliance with all H&S relevant Regulatory agency requirements. (regulations, permits, statutes, etc)

Risk Management • Maintain certifications relevant to hazardous substances for locations, vessels, buildings, and manufacturing processes etc. to ensure site regulatory compliance • Maintain an inventory of all hazardous substances on site ensuring that storage & segregation meet regulatory requirements • Escalate any personnel, facility safety and industrial hygiene requirements in terms of exposure to and containment of hazardous substances. • Maintain the risk & hazard registers & undertake risk assessments for all processes including new projects across all business units as required

Education and Training • Maintain proactive H&S communications to support a positive safety culture • Conduct regular safety training needs analysis • Maintain the compliance training matrix, monitor employee attendance and report on completion rates • Ensure a robust provider selection process for outsourced training, and coordinate external permit, certification and licence training including refresher training as required, including first aid and fire safety • Ensure the site wide adherence of relevant permits and certification

Job Requirements

Relevant tertiary qualification in safety management, industrial hygiene or similar Ideally membership of a relevant professional safety organization • Minimum of 4 years of professional experience related to HS&E • Demonstrated knowledge of health and safety legislation, WorkSafe policies and ACC procedures • Hazardous Substance legislative knowledge would be an advantage • Prior experience in a practical working environment e.g., manufacturing, construction, forestry etc • Strong investigation and problem-solving capabilities • Experience implementing ISO 45001 and / or 14001 • Effective verbal and written communication, with strong influencing skills to work with internal and external customers. • Demonstrated ability to influence without authority and operate in a highly matrixed environment • Experience in the development and implementation of various HSE initiatives. • Experience with cultural change and driving awareness • Ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks to demanding deadlines. • Good at problem solving and making decisions under pressure. • High energy and commitment to drive company values • Safety-conscious always while maintaining calm in the event of an emergency • Ability to drive accountability for the safety culture performance of teams
