Pastry Chef
About this job
We are an established, busy upmarket bistro. We welcome you with house-made bread and serve complete plates of food, featuring classic dishes with a modern flair, all prepared from carefully sourced ingredients. We also operate Downstairs, a wine bar offering substantial small plates, including hot chips, a delicious parfait, inventive small plates, and a hearty braise in winter. Our menu is constantly evolving, and we have specials running in both locations, offering plenty of room for creativity.
We are looking for a Pastry Chef to join our team. You will lead with confidence, creating beautiful, precise, and delicious dishes. Whether it's a perfect classic creme burlee, innovative vegan desserts, or creative chocolate creations, we expect you to bring your expertise to the plate. There’s a reputation to uphold, and we understand the industry, striving to make it the best job it can be. We need someone who is considered and precise in their baking, but also able to hustle during service and bring fresh ideas to the menu.
We make all our food in-house (except for the vanilla ice cream—Kohu Road does it best). As owner-operators with extensive experience in hospitality, we are committed to producing excellent food without prioritizing profits above all else. We aim to be proud of everything we do. We offer a kind, supportive, family-style work environment, where tips are shared equally among all team members on shift. You’ll also enjoy staff meals, great discounts, and a fantastic work culture.
