Employer looking for forestry workers to do 1st Lift Pruning - from the ground to the prescribed height (will vary depending on client) may involve using a 2.4m ladder 2nd Lift Pruning - 2nd stage of pruning which will mean pruning from its present height to the prescribed height required, this will involve a 3m to 3.6m ladder and maybe a step depending on the clients desired result 3rd Lift Pruning - you will be required to prune trees from their present height to 6.5m using either a 4.5m ladder or a 3.6m ladder and step Planting - involves carrying boxes of 100 seedlings/cuttings in a carry frame harnessed around the waist and using a spade to plant these at the clients specified spacing and technique. These instructions will be clearly outlined before operation begins Release Spraying - using a knapsack that is carried on your back you will be required to spray a herbicide on and/or around the certain species of tree to kill off competing weed growth and give the tree the best chance of survival
Job Requirements
While forestry experience is always preferred, several other occupations and industries utilise reasonably similar skill sets, such as farming, horticulture or industrial labouring positions that require good strength, health and fitness. A history of working outdoors and being used to working in challenging weather conditions is also relevant. Must pass a drugs test but MOJ is case by case. No license needed but will need to make your way to a site in Frankton and will travel in a van to varied work sites each day. Must have at least 6months experience in forestry and other industries as listed above.
