About this job

The role of the sprinkler fitters mate is to assist the Sprinkler Fitter install, test and commission the fire sprinkler protection system including ancillary elements in an efficient productive manner.

Responsibilities of a Fitter's Mate Compliance & Communication: Follow all reasonable instructions from the Sprinkler Fitter. Confirm understanding of tasks; seek clarification if needed.

Preparation & Setup: Arrive on-site 10 minutes early. Set up tools and machinery for daily tasks. Ensure all equipment is tagged, tested, and compliant with HSE standards.

Pipework & Installation Support: Cut, thread, groove, and attach fittings to the pipework. Prepare fixings, clips, brackets, and hangers for installation.

Site Management: Maintain a clean and tidy job site. Clean tools and machinery weekly; ensure equipment is kept in good condition. Organize the container for easy access to stock and materials.

Daily Operations: Prepare refreshments (e.g., put the electric jug on before breaks). Return all tools and materials to designated areas at the end of the day. Document tasks, instructions, and dimensions in the provided notebook.

Continuous Improvement: Engage in upskilling and training opportunities.

Safety Protocols: Wear required PPE as outlined in the site induction.

Material Management Responsibilities Minimize Waste: Ensure material wastage is kept at or below 5%, including consumables.

Stock Management: Conduct a daily stock take of materials. Perform a comprehensive weekly stock take every Friday; submit findings along with delivery dockets and weekly timesheet to OFP management.

Material Monitoring: Notify the fitter when materials are low to avoid delays; ensure proactive management.

Site Organization: Always return tools, materials, and equipment to their designated areas after use. Ensure that no items are left lying around on site.

Material Care: Properly store and maintain all materials on site.

Job Requirements

-Must be reliable -Follow instructions well. -Physically fit and motivated. -Keen learner -Knowledge of using tools -Must pass a drug test -Minor convictions case by case
