Youth Tutor

A Paraparaumu training provider is looking for a Youth tutor to join their team. You will need enthusiasm for teaching, excellent communication skills (both written and oral), and effective time and classroom management are a must.
They offer a large and varied programme of further education qualification courses and employment preparation training as well as extensive community and work-based provision. Key Tasks:
To tutor the following Level 2 Youth Guarantee (YG) programmes: - Level 2 Certificate in Foundation Skills - Level 2 Certificate in Building Construction theory - Level 2 Certificate in Computing programme
• Actively manage the classroom, supervising and facilitating directed and self-paced learning. • Carry out NZQA assessments, mark learners’ work and provide feedback. • Conduct ‘plan and review’ sessions to coach learners through their individual learning plans. • Design activities to maximise learning engagement. • Take an active role in ensuring that the Centre runs smoothly.

Job Requirements
The ideal candidate will have: • National Certificate in Adult Literacy and Numeracy Education (Vocational/Workplace) or a willingness to complete the certificate. • NZQA Unit Standard 4098, or a willingness to complete it. • Experience working with foundation level learners and the ability to engage them in learning. • Skills and/or experience in embedding literacy and numeracy, using literacy and numeracy progressions, and knowledge of collecting naturally occurring evidence for literacy and numeracy assessments. • A passion to teach and empower young people, being themselves a quick learner and self-motivated. • Excellent classroom management skills. • A hard-working attitude, able to create a fun, interesting and dynamic classroom. • Strong computing skills including: • Microsoft Office Suite; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access. • Knowledge of photo editing software. • Knowledge of computing hardware and software. • Must be able to pass a pre-employment MOJ check and drug test.
