Seasonal Kiwifruit Thinners

A Kerikeri, Waipapa and Waimate North based employer is currently seeking Seasonal Kiwifruit Thinners to join their team on a temporary contract. The successful candidates will be starting early October and ending in late December (short-term work is available). There may be opportunities for ongoing work after the new year.

This is a fixed-term position and weather dependant with most work being offered Monday to Friday with an occasional Saturday. The orchard hours are usually between 8am – 4:30pm.

Duties include: Thinning: Removing excess buds, flowers and fruit from the vines to adjust the crop load and take pressure off the vines.

There’s no heavy lifting or anything particularly strenuous involved, but you do need to be able to work on your feet all day and reach up to the vines.

Physically fit and able to work on your feet, comfortable working with arms overhead for extended periods Reliable, punctual and able to work in a team environment. Able to pass a pre-employment drug test and on-going random tests Able to pass a pre-employment police check, previous minor convictions may be considered on a case-by-case basis Able to learn and follow instructions to ensure you are removing the right flowers/buds Hold a restricted or full Class 1 driver licence with own reliable transport as some travel between orchards will be required and no transport is provided by employer to and from work Functional mobile phone as all applications are online and so employer can let you know when there is work available.
