Orchard Development/Orchard Hand in Appleby

We are in the process of developing new high intensity apple orchards in Appleby and require physically fit individuals for an initial 12-month contract to carry this work out. There is a possibility for permanent positions based on performance and business needs in the future. Duties will include but not limited to: • Installation of Orchard Trellis Structures: Setting up trellis systems, including cabling and wiring. • Netting Installation: Install protective netting to safeguard crops from adverse weather conditions. • Tree Training: Remove excess fruit to improve the size and quality of the remaining fruit and prevent tree damage. • Fruit Thinning: Remove excess fruit to improve the size and quality of the remaining fruit and prevent tree damage. • Pruning: Perform pruning tasks to maintain tree health, shape, and fruit production efficiency. • Machinery Operation: May be required to operate various types of orchard machinery such as hydraladas, tractors, diggers safely and efficiently (training can be provided). • Adherence to Health and Safety Standards: Follow all health and safety guidelines to maintain a safe working environment. • Other Duties: Carry out any other reasonable instructions from supervisors and management. Start date is 232rd September 2024. Hourly rate will be dependent on experience.

• Ability to perform physical labour in various weather conditions • Willingness to learn and follow instructions • Previous experience in orchard work is advantageous but not essential • Must be available to commit to the full period of the contract • Need reliable transport
