Ideally, you will have had previous experience supporting people and have a good understanding of culturally appropriate delivery of health and social services.

About the role: This role offers you the opportunity to provide support and guidance with the implementation and best practice development of Te Whare Tapa Wha health model and to ensure that a culturally responsive whanau ora approach is considered. Ability to strengthen and maintain positive working relationships with Iwi Maori and other Maori Health providers will be key to your success. In this role you will not only provide cultural support to tangata accessing our mental health or social housing services, but you will also build capability amongst our staff, teams, and services.

What you will need to have: • Sound proficiency in Te Reo Maori me ona tikanga is essential • Sound understanding of tikanga and Te Ao Maori • Knowledge of Kaupapa Maori services • An understanding of Te Whare Tapa Wha model • Ability to inspire and motivate people to achieve their goals • Experience in counselling or pastoral outreach • Experienced networker with an ability to build and utilise community resources • Commitment to Te Tiriti O Waitangi

Job Requirements

• Sound proficiency level of Te Reo Maori me ona tikanga is essential • Sound knowledge of tikanga & Te Ao Maori • Good knowledge pf kaupapa Maori • An understanding of Te Whare Tapa Wha model • Treaty of Waitangi and bi-culturalism • Knowledge of relevant mental health legislation • Cultural awareness with wide knowledge of Maori services and agencies in the Mental health sector. • Profound knowledge of, an experience in community work • Profound understanding of mental health. • Minimum Level 4 Mental Health qualification or similar • Sound computer skills including the use of email, internet and Microsoft Office applications. • Full, current New Zealand driver’s licence.
