Kaiawhina / Support Worker

A Kaiawhina / Support Worker is needed in Tauranga. We are looking for a compassionate and flexible person to join our team in supporting homeless women in the Tauranga moana. We offer transitional housing and support for homeless women in Tauranga who would like to eventually secure and maintain a tenancy of their own. In this role you will work with a small case load of women supported by a lead social worker to providing ongoing one on one support to wahine to develop and increase their capacity to engage with community based support. Mentor and role model skills required for daily living and care needs in line with our Practice Model and Tikanga Core Values of HKKT. Assisting the Social Worker and Service Lead to identify appropriate external accommodation and placements for wahine referred to us. As a key part of the HKKT team you will ensure that the values and tikanga of the Trust are understood and respected by all who enter the house. You will be a flexible team player who is well organized with the ability to connect with people from diverse backgrounds.

In this role applicants will need to be able to pass a Ministry of Justice check. You will hold a Level 4 in Mental Health and Addiction Or Level 4 in Health and Wellbeing or similar Knowledge working in a kaupapa maori space. Applicants will need to have basic computer skills. Ideally you will hold a First Aid certificate although we can help you to gain this.
