An employer in Nelson is looking for a Whanau Ora Navigator. The purpose of Whanau Ora Navigator is to provide key activities to support whanau to be self-determining, including identifying current circumstances of whanau and steps to achieve aspirations. In this role you will: navigate services and opportunities around whanau, enabling whanau to be more self-managing and responsible for their economic, cultural and social development and well-being; support whanau to identify strengths; facilitate and mentor whanau to identify aspirations; and draw on a range of approaches to support whanau in achieving their aspirations. You will have a strong ability to be self-managing, able to work in a team or operate independently when required, have a passion and flair for creating spaces of learning and change to create unity of purpose and vision, and have a working understanding of kaupapa Maori. This role is initially on a 12-month fixed term contract, with a possible extension for a second year.

Job Requirements

To be considered for this role you will ideally have experience in key activities related to the role (leadership, coaching, presentation skills), excellent communication skills, some knowledge or willingness to learn Te Reo and Tikanga, and able to operate independently. You will need a current full NZ driver's licence, and be able to pass pre-employment drug testing and Police checks. Experience in a similar role is essential to be considered for this role
