As the Maara Kai Initiative Coordinator, you will work to develop and maintain a maara kai, which has an emphasis on growing traditional Maori kai and engaging with and supporting whanau to experience an increase in kai sustainability.

The role involves mentoring whanau through the process of foraging, growing, harvesting, cooking, and storing kai. You will also be supporting whanau to access a range of other services as needed. Remuneration will be based on your qualifications and experience.

Job Requirements

The successful applicant will have: • Demonstrated experience in key activities related to the role (guidance, coaching, presentation delivery, etc). • Horticultural qualifications and experience, including knowledge of traditional Maori plants and the protocols and processes in cultivating them. • Ability to work within the Wairua space. • Relevant qualification or substantial progress towards one. • A current, full NZ driver’s Licence. • A current First Aid and CPR Cert • Current Police check • Knowledge of Te Reo and Tikanga desirable or willingness to learn
