Here is a unique opportunity to become a fully trained, Sewing Machine Technician in the heart of Whangarei, with a reputable company. This is a family operated and orientated business that prides itself on a great customer experience being largely retail based.

Must have an aptitude toward problem solving, be comfortable in being in a workshop environment essentially all the time, need to be methodical in your approach, to have an eye for fine details, have fine motor skills with finger dexterity, be comfortable with heavy lifting of machines, be a self starter, provide support to the team when needed, and be capable of researching online to problem solve when required.

Duties will also include: - Cleaning of machine covers, work area, and proper use of cleaning products. - To accurately record notes and to be able to follow a process, to diagnose through processes of elimination. - Develop an ear for the machines so you know when they are running optimally or not. - Develop or have an ability to make good sewing samples, not necessarily sewing techniques, and can operate a machine and have basic sewing skills or develop the skills easily. - Be able to use a variety of machines to sew - Can follow the process for a basic service on a range of Bernina and Bernette out of warranty machines – covers off, buffing, clean and oil, covers back on, sew sample. - Can complete a basic service on a range of other machines which includes feed timing, pattern timing, and belt tensioning.

This opportunity will not be ideal for those who are sensitive to noisy environments. Some experience is a bonus, but not essential as all training will be provided.

An initial 2 week period will be spent in Wellington learning - Sewing Machine Tech 101. All costs will be covered by the company. Further ongoing training will also be provided.

Job Requirements

Full training provided for the right person. Must be reliable Must be able to get to and from work on your own accord. Do extras if required Dress code is smart-sensible but also needs to be appropriate to largely being in a workshop, including closed footwear and hair tied up. An aptitude for problem solving Someone who is intuitive

Days of work
Monday - Friday 9am-5pm Additional hours can be available by mutual agreement (40 hours per week)
Pay Details
$23.15 per hour to start.
