A Lower-Hutt organisation is seeking a positive and collegiate individual to join their team as a property assistant

Daily tasks involved in the role include: - Assisting in maintaining tidy grounds by emptying Rubbish bins and removing rubbish. - Assist in the daily (before school) check of the grounds and identify to the Business Manager any Health and Safety issues. - Assisting in responding to immediate health and safety concerns that might occur during the day such as fixing blocked toilet bowls and/or sinks; blocked drains, cleaning up broken glass, fallen branches etc. - Assisting in identifying and remedying daily maintenance issues such as replacing light-bulbs (including fluorescents), clearing gutters and drains, clear leaves etc. - Assisting staff on an ad hoc basis with tasks requiring strength or skill beyond their capacity. Examples might be moving or assembling a desk, carrying heavy boxes across the college grounds etc. - Assisting in general grounds maintenance including mowing lawns and maintaining garden areas. - Regularly assisting in preparing the college grounds – including the gym - for sports activities. - Assisting in readying the college gym for school assemblies or other school-based activities. - Checking college vans’ fuel levels/WOF, Rego, tyres and maintaining their general appearance.

Job Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must be/have: ● Tolerant and positive around students (aged 11 – 18). ● Reasonably physically fit ● Reasonable level of mechanical competence or ability to learn to use machinery (tractor and ride-on mower) unsupervised. ● A ‘can-do’ attitude and desire to be of service.

A Full Driver Licence would also be needed.
