Local employer working in the conservation and planting space are looking for staff to join the team and assist in the running of their local native nursery, environmental management and reforestation activities in the community.

Looking for both those that can lead in the supervisory space and well as those looking to build on existing skills in this field.

No two days will be the same with a wide variation of work on hand including but not limited to: • Planting. • Maintenance - Spraying, Weed Eating, Brush Cutting, Chainsaw work. • Loading/Unloading. • Pest Control. • Propagating plants from seed, cuttings, and division. • General nursery maintenance and tasks as set by supervisor.

You must have the below qualities to be considered for this role: • You will need to be able to be reliable and turn up every day for the mahi on hand as we work both inside and outside in all forms of weather. • Must be able to follow instruction and work as part of a team abiding by Health and Safety requirements. • Be willing to work towards upskilling yourself as we believe in providing training not only for the job at hand but to better yourself for the future. • All applicants will need a recent CV, ability to pass PEDT if required. • Convictions on a case-by-case basis. • Ideally will have own transport and minimum restricted licence but open to discussion around this.

Job Requirements

You must have the below prerequisites to be considered for this role:

• Experience in landscaping, planting, or hands on tools background. • Knowledge of various species of native trees and their preferred growing conditions or planting/plants propagation. • Ability to physically plant trees and perform manual labour tasks. • Good communication and interpersonal skills. • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow client specifications and local regulations. • A passion for conservation and the environment. • hold New Zealand citizenship, New Zealand Permanent Residency.

Days of work
Monday to Friday. Our Nursery is based in the outskirts of Invercargill. (30 hours per week)
