We require a number of experienced fisheries deckhands to work on our modern trawler vessels. We are seeking full-time crew for a 12-month period. Trips can be up to 10 days. Normal fisheries deckhand duties for a trawler vessel include the deployment and retrieval of trawler net , handling, storing, and unloading of the catch, and cleaning duties. If you have net mending and wire splicing skills that would be great . Understanding of sea bird mitigation devices and their deployment required . Experience of at least six months experience as a fisheries deckhand is essential or the ADHF fisheries deckhand qualification . Part of our assessment process will involve limited police checks for all applicants. There is also a pre-employment and ongoing drug testing program for all of these positions. Applicants will need to agree with their previous employers being contacted as part of our vetting process. Remuneration based on experience and qualifications. with a base rate of $28.15 per hour We are happy to discuss "catch share" contract options.
Experience of at least six months experience as a fisheries deckhand is essential If you have NZ Deckhand Qualifications or equivalent that would be a definite advantage. Must be physically strong and fit, as there is some heavy lifting involved.You must agree to both our random drug testing program and a limited criminal police clearance process.
