INDEPENDENT LIVING SUPPORT WORKER (Community-based support)

The Independent Living team at Community Care Trust are looking for an intuitive person with a can-do attitude to join our team on a full-time basis (32-40 hours per week) and will include one weekend shift. We have a dynamic, positive and supportive team environment where every day is a bit different! Team members complete our competency-based trainings, and your pay rates increase as you learn! Community Care Trust prides itself on staff training opportunities, and our people often seek career progression into other positions, such as management and specialist behaviour support. The Independent Living team support people with intellectual disabilities and/or Autism Spectrum Disorder to work towards their goals, both in their own home and in the community. Whether it’s a 17-year-old transitioning out of home, or a 70-year-old, we do it all! You will see a handful of people each day, anywhere from a one-hour exercise support, up to a three-hour community outing. You will build rapport and positive working relationships with the people that you support and see first-hand their progress and achievements. We support people 7 days a week, which means you will be required to work one weekend day, however exact hours will be discussed at an interview. We roster staff on set shifts, so your hours will be the same every week and you’ll have two days off in a row. In order to be able to work for us, you must: Hold a full current NZ DRIVER LICENCE Be ELIGIBLE to work in New Zealand Hold a current FIRST AID Certificate (or be willing to complete one) It is preferable that you have a road legal motor vehicle for work related travel, with mileage costs to be reimbursed, although not essential. Undergo VETTING as we have a strong commitment to safeguarding children and vulnerable people.
