Kiwifruit orchard workers are required on a fixed term basis in the Katikati/Te Puna areas. Duties include picking, winter pruning, thinning, male pruning, summer pruning, leader work, training canes on the strings, trunk girdling with chains and knife, zero leaf and summer prune in the green. 3 years’ experience preferred as an orchard worker in the kiwifruit industry but will consider people with minimal experience as training is provided. However, to earn above $25.00, the candidate must have experience in winter pruning, male pruning, leader work, training canes on the strings, trunk girdling, zero leaf and summer prune in the green. This work is weather dependant with up to 5 to 6 days of work available. You will be on your feet and working above head and shoulders height for long periods of time. Closed footwear must be worn on orchard – gumboots and sneakers are suitable. Tools are provided by the employer and include, small cutters, big loppers and picking bags. You will be required to have secured accommodation in the location area prior to applying. Start date: 20/03/2024 for a minimum of 6 months (for experienced workers). Start date: 20/03/2024 till 31/05/2024 (for minimal experienced candidates).
