Field worker

LeaderBrand Produce Limited, one of New Zealand's biggest and most diverse horticultural businesses, is hiring for its sweetcorn harvest crew this summer! Are you ready to join the crew harvesting delicious, juicy sweetcorn under the Gisborne sun? We're looking for enthusiastic pickers, packers, stackers, and tractor drivers to help us get our sweetcorn from the field to your table. No experience necessary, just a willingness to work hard and have fun. As a member of this close-knit Nursery team you will be responsible for: • operating and maintaining the seeding line • green house operations and maintenance • growing plants from seeds • preparing soil mixes and composts • operating semi-automated irrigation systems • watering and fertilizing plants • monitoring plants for pests & disease • organising stock and dispatch of plants. This seasonal opportunity may lead to permanent work based on skill, ability and attitude. Weather Dependant

You will need to bring a reasonable level of fitness as this role can be physically demanding. A driver’s license is essential, a forklift license would be an advantage although on the job training is available. During the summer months, the glass houses will be very hot and humid, and there will be times you will need to help out with extra hours during the weekends. Having a good attitude, a great sense of humour, a genuine passion for horticulture and a willingness to learn will help make all the difference to joining our team! Successful applicants must pass drug testing as part of the pre-employment process, be a New Zealand resident or hold a valid work visa.
