Support Worker

A Nelson based employer are looking for enthusiastic, motivated, and resilient individual to join their team as a support worker to make a difference with young adults to increase their independence and have fun. Previous experience is an advantage and training will be provided. In this role you will be supporting people in residential homes to increase their quality of life. You will follow individual plans and understand the importance of consistency in assisting people to achieve a great life.
The ideal candidate will have the following: • Be Patient, resilient, flexible. • Good social skills and the ability to relate well to others. • The ability to work with people who present with challenging behaviours. • Commitment to professional development • An ability to work actively as part of a team and individually to ensure service quality. • Good English language ability (written and spoken) • Energetic and enthusiastic • A current full driver’s licence is preferred, but as long as you are keen and motivated to gain full licence. • NZ Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Level 2 to 4) or equivalent is preferred but this is not mandatory and opportunity for further study provided. • Be able to pass pre-employment check (Police vetting)
This is a part time position with a minimum of 30 guaranteed hours a week. Shifts will be rostered from 7am-3pm, 3pm – 11pm and a sleepover shift 11pm – 7am. Candidates must be flexible with working hours and available on weekends and public holidays.
