Avocado Orchard Manager

A recently developed Avocado Orchard in Te Kopuru requires a Manager to oversee all operations. Duties will include: • Managing pest and disease processes in conjunction with AVOGREEN processes. • Ensure timely application of fertiliser and other critical inputs. • Follow management programmes as supplied to ensure maximum production and optimize fruit size. • Ensure hives on site are kept safe and not subject to exposure of chemicals or processes that may be detrimental to the bees. • Arrange implementation of pollination programmes. • Ensuring implementation of best practice guidelines around irrigation management, irrigation systems, frost mitigation, and artificial and permanent shelter as per best practices. Must be capable of creating and maintaining a positive work environment for employees with a focus on Health and Safety, performance, adhering to company policy and employment guidelines. Must also complete administration tasks, record accurate data and report to the general manager.

Qualifications / Experience Appropriate formal qualification and management experience Current clean driver’s license Intermediate level of MS office suite Proven organizational skills, the ability to multi-task, prioritize activities Exceptional communication skills - written and oral Confidentiality can always be guaranteed Extensive knowledge of New Zealand native plants, in particular revegetation species occurring naturally in the Auckland and Northland regions. Te Reo and knowledge of Ngati Whatua me Te Uri o Hau tikanga would be advantageous
