Childcare Centre Cook

A Porirua based employer is looking for a childcare centre cook to join their team! This position is approximately 35 hours per week, with usual hours worked 8:30am-3:30pm daily. They provide morning tea, a cooked lunch and afternoon tea for our Tamariki! In this role, you will be cooking for up to 55 children daily, including making bay mash for the under twos. As the kitchen is situated inside the centre, you will have some interaction with the children – so getting on with them is a must! Other duties include responsibility of ordering groceries, maintaining cleanliness of the kitchen, including dishes, and filling out the daily required paperwork. The centre is mixed age, and the children and teachers really are a cool bunch to work with! Training can be provided for the right candidate and there may even be the opportunity to work more than 34 hours outside of the kitchen duties. If this sounds like you, apply now!

Some cooking experience is preferred, however, you must like children as you’ll be communicating with them daily. The centre has menus available, so you will just need the ability to follow food safety protocols and take instructions well. A minimum of a restricted driver licence and your own vehicle is also desirable to do grocery runs when needed. Due to the nature of the role, you will be required to undergo a police background check and MOJ. Pre-employment drug and alcohol tests may also be needed. Strictly no convictions.
