The season has produced a lot of rain therefore have had to resort back to harvesting (scratching) the Kumara by hand into buckets. This is labour intensive, hard mahi but is also very rewarding. Being paid via piece/bin rate at $180 per bin. There is 50 acres in Ruawai still to harvest with anywhere between 1-2 months work depending on the numbers. Transport may be available from Dargaville depending on availability of seats in the van.
