Rangatahi Mentor

Rangatahi Mentor, your primary purpose will be to help young people realize their full potential and become responsible, confident, and productive members of our community. You will provide guidance, support, and positive role modeling to rangatahi, assisting them in developing important life skills, building self-confidence, and achieving their goals.

Main Tasks:

Advocate for, empower, and support rangatahi. Establish positive and interactive relationships with each rangatahi. Provide support, guidance, positive interaction, and opportunities for rangatahi to learn life skills and positive problem-solving skills. Develop transition plans with rangatahi to ensure a smooth and ongoing process. Raise awareness of community, educational, and economic resources available to rangatahi and facilitate access to these resources. Foster collaborative relationships with education providers, government agencies, non-government organizations, and local community networks to ensure coordinated service provision for young people. Identify and onboard potential volunteer mentors for rangatahi. Monitor the progress of each mentee, maintain client notes, and record statistics after each interaction. Demonstrate good character, emotional stability, and a responsible adult lifestyle. Communicate significant safety issues to appropriate staff. Make necessary referrals and manage a caseload. Adhere to the Youth Workers Code of Ethics
