Rest Home Caregiver

As a Kaitiaki, you are responsible for supporting residents with visitors/extra needs in the Fri-Mon period when our rest home/hospital experiences increased demands for resident/visitor support. This role provides care/support to our residents by following protocol to deliver a safe, secure and supportive environment which encourages our residents to maintain their independence and make decisions for themselves. Your key responsibilities will be to deliver the highest standard of personal cares and support them to have autonomy by doing as much as possible for themselves in a way each resident chooses. You will also assist/support the daily activities in a way that reflects our residents holistic well-being and take instruction and delegation under the direction of the Registered Nurse. On top of this, you will provide assistance when an emergency occurs or additional support is required by the team and ensure residents needs are attended to effectively/in a timely manner.

As well as a passion for the wellbeing of our kaumatua, you will be enthusiastic, patient and well organised with great interpersonal skills and humour. You will share our values of empathy, compassion and respect. Ideally you have some experience in aged care but the right attitude and willingness to learn is just as important. You also need to communicate with and respect the diversity of each individual living/working in our facility.Must be fully vaxxed with at least 2 Covid booster shots.
